Legally recognized as "Patrick McLaw," Karlin uses the name "Dr. Karlin Patrick S. Sayyad-Voltaerovijc" professionally. He is more widely recognized by the abbreviated version of his pseudonym, "Dr. K. S. Voltaer," (and sometimes even more informally as "Dr. V.") a name under which he has written and published seven (7) novels. Karlin received international attention as well as professional and personal scrutiny in 2014 for his debut novel The Insurrectionist, a book he authored in 2011 while attending University.

Outside of the UniverCity, Karlin is a licensed educator and CDL holder, and has served in a variety of professional capacities, including a Professional Driver, secondary English teacher, Department Chair, Lead Teacher, Instructional Coach, Acting Assistant Principal, Media Production Manager, and organizational power broker.

Within his role at C. S. Knightliesch, Karlin is the creative mind behind this organization. With a skill set that has not only greatly attributed to the organization's growth and development, but has simultaneously become its most critical asset, nearly every facet of Dälhaus UniverCity has his imprint on it. Over the years, Karlin has grown the company's architectural simulations project from one building, to nearly a dozen, increased the publishing house's publications, and expanded the form and fucntion of the UniverCity to include education and training programs, and consultation.
